At Martin Gray Football Academy (MGFA), we believe that sport is more than just technique, tactics and physical skill, it’s also about character, teamwork, respect and community.

That’s why we are proud to support Anti-Bullying Week 2025, from Monday 10th to Friday 14th November, with this year’s theme: “Power for Good.”
Why This Matters
Bullying, whether in person or online, can affect young people’s confidence, wellbeing, friendships and enjoyment of life and sport. Silence allows it to grow. The organisers of Anti-Bullying Week remind us that:
“Every young person deserves to feel safe and included in their school. This year’s theme, ‘Power for Good,’ emphasises the positive difference each one of us can make by standing together and taking collective action against bullying.”
At MGFA we see every training session, match-day, and club activity as an opportunity not just to develop football skills, but to build character. Part of character is how we treat one another, how we respond under pressure, and how we include others.
How We’ll Bring It to Life
During Anti-Bullying Week, we’ll focus on:
Speaking up and supporting others: Encouraging our players to use their voice when they see unfairness or exclusion.
Team behaviour on and off the pitch: Highlighting how good football teams aren’t just about scoring goals, they’re about respect, fairness and helping one another.
Being an “up-stander,” not just a “bystander”: Encouraging children (and adults) to act when they see someone being left out or treated poorly.
Using the tools of sport for good: Sportsmanship, leadership, communication and cooperation—these all play a part in creating a safe community where bullying has no place.

What You Can Do as Parents & Players
Talk to your child: Ask about how they felt at training this week, whether they included someone new, or how they handled a mistake.
Encourage kindness: Simple acts, welcoming someone new, passing to the quieter player, saying something supportive, make a difference.
Role-model strong behaviour: At home and online, children learn from adults. Showing respect, fairness and inclusivity sets the tone.
Use our club space: If your child experiences or witnesses bullying, thank you for letting us know. We’re here to support all players.
Looking Ahead
By choosing to use our “power for good,” we commit to more than one week of activity. We commit to creating a club culture where every child feels safe, valued and able to thrive. At MGFA we want our players to be confident in their ability, but also in their character.
Together, during Anti-Bullying Week 2025 and beyond, we can make a difference. We can show that sport matters not only for what it teaches us to do with a ball, but for how we treat each other.
