Little Strikers – Where a Love for Football Begins

Some of the most important moments in a child's football journey happen long before they join a team or play their first competitive match. They're the moments when they first kick a ball, learn something new, make a friend or experience the excitement of scoring a goal.

At Martin Gray Football Academy, our Little Strikers sessions are designed to introduce children aged 3–5 to football in a fun, welcoming and encouraging environment. At this age, our priority isn't creating the next professional footballer. It's helping children enjoy being active, develop confidence and discover what they can achieve.

Learning Through Play

Young children learn best when they're enjoying themselves. That's why our Little Strikers sessions combine simple football activities with movement, coordination and games that keep everyone involved.

Through these activities, children begin to develop balance, spatial awareness, ball control and basic movement skills. Just as importantly, they learn how to listen, follow instructions, take turns and interact positively with other children.

These early experiences help build foundations that support their development both in football and in everyday life.

Building Confidence One Session at a Time

For some children, joining a football session is their first experience of taking part in a structured activity outside their usual surroundings. It can be a big step, and we understand how important it is to make that experience positive.

Our coaches encourage children to try new things, celebrate their efforts and feel comfortable learning at their own pace. A small achievement, whether that's completing a dribble, joining in a game or simply feeling confident enough to participate, can make a huge difference.

A Great Place to Start

Little Strikers takes place on Monday evenings at Greenfield School in Newton Aycliffe, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm, with sessions costing just £5.

No previous football experience is needed. Children simply need to come along, have fun and enjoy discovering the game.
